Ranveer Singh rallies behind Badminton player Lakshya Sen after heartbreak Olympics 2024 loss: “Fight another day. Proud of you, starboy”

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has thrown his weight behind India’s badminton sensation Lakshya Sen, who narrowly missed out on a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics. The 22-year-old, who created history by becoming the first Indian male shuttler to reach the Olympic semifinals, faced a tough defeat against Lee Zii Jia of Malaysia in the bronze medal match.

Despite the heartbreaking loss, Ranveer took to Instagram to shower praise on Lakshya’s performance. “What a player! What endurance, what agility, what a range of shots, what focus, what grit, what smarts. Scintillating badminton on display!” he wrote, sharing a picture of Lakshya.

The actor went on to add, "It's difficult to encapsulate just how brilliant he's been at the Olympics. Missed out narrowly in a game of extremely small margins. But he's only 22 and he is just getting started."

Conveying his heartfelt message, Ranveer encouraged Lakshya to stay positive. “Fight another day. Proud of you, starboy,” he concluded.

The loss was a bitter pill for the Indian badminton contingent, with veteran Prakash Padukone, also Ranveer's father-in-law, expressing his disappointment. In a candid outburst, Padukone criticized the players for lacking responsibility. However, Ranveer’s words of encouragement testify to Lakshya's resilience and talent. The young shuttler has undoubtedly captured the hearts of millions with his exceptional performance at the Olympics.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Ranveer Singh will be starring in Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar and Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3. ALSO READ: Anu Aggarwal reflects on Ranveer Singh’s nude photoshoot and her own topless scene; says, “I think we cross our barriers as actors when we do such things...”
